Homeland Security - Protecting our Nation's Borders
America has long been a beacon to many people to enter – some with intentions focused on dreams of a better life for themselves and families, but some focused on harm. Each day, our borders are crossed by more than 300,000 encounters at 400+ ports of entry and borders. This volume requires a system that can rapidly search 700+ terabytes of biometric and biographic information in < 10 seconds. TTW Solutions managed the world’s largest biometric database that supports the electronic finger print identity search and identification system being used by our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) patrols, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Service members, Department of State (DOS), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), our military forces, and the intelligence community. This system is the center-piece of our country’s anti-terrorism program and priorities.
- Biometric database sized at 700+ Terabytes
- System SLA of < 10 seconds to protect U.S. citizens and enhance border security
- 24x7x365 across 400+ ports of entry and borders
Due to the increased number of individuals crossing our borders via air, land and sea and the associated increase in data collected at the ports of entry, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has mandated a replacement system for biometric recognition, verification, matching, and search with multiple biometric modality. TTW Solutions is supporting the project to provide DHS and mission partners with a flexible, scalable and more efficient biometric data system that supports DHS core missions. We are employing Agile software development and DevSecOps methodology using the latest technologies that include microservices, innovative tools, and cloud architecture. It will be a robust system with enhanced matching, storing, and sharing capabilities.
